Working in Korea

I have just got back from Korea. Working in Korea during this winter is pretty cold. With the temperature as low as -11 degree Celsius.

Traffic here is as bad as other countries. Going to work from Gangnam to Anyang takes 1.30 hours with crazy morning traffic.

Going around with taxi is very expensive and the traffic is really. I thought taking taxi will be faster way to commute but my assumption is pretty misleading. Taxi fare surcharge starts from 2400 (= RM7.2). Going from Gangnam to Anyang easily cost me RM120 for one way.

Tips to travel or commute using the subway, is by buying T-Money. You can buy the prepaid T-Money from 7-Eleven or GS-25 outlets. Kindly additional topup for your own personal use. The minimum trip charge starts from 900 Won (=RM2.7).

How to get around in Switzerland

half price cardThe best to get around is to get the half price card or they called it as halbtax.

As you already know, Switzerland goods are much more expensive than other places in Europe. Similar to its transportation, it is rather expensive but very efficient. With half price card, you will be able to get half price for any 1st class or 2nd class travel.

The link for the half price card is here

UEFA Euro 2008

I’ll be in Bern, Switzerland during UEFA Euro 2008. It is a great opportunity to be here to watch the euro cup.

Austria and Switzerland are the proud hosts of UEFA’s 2008 European Cup, the world’s third-largest sporting event. The UEFA EURO 2008 championship will kick off on 7 June with the Swiss national squad playing at Basel’s St. Jakob Park stadium.

The final will take place on 29 June in Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, where the European champions will be decided. All fixtures can be viewed at http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Download/competitions/EURO/360459_DOWNLOAD.pdf

Good site to buy in Sweden

On my way to Sweden, I lost my kid’s stroller in the Malaysian Airline flight. When I enter the flight to Stockholm and I give my stroller to one of the airport personnel at the entrance and he supposed to give me the tag for the stroller.

But he didn’t and I walked into the plane and when i reached Stockholm, I asked for the stroller but they didn’t find it. I can’t do anything since I have no tag and the plane will continue the flight to New York.
I emailed to MH bags handling but nothing done! After two weeks holding and brings with cram arms, I bought a barnvagn or stroller thru their internet website called blocket.se. It is in swedish language but my colleque help me to surf around.

Finally i got the barnvagn with a very reasonable price.

Finally in Stockholm Sweden

There is a few hiccups travelling over here to sweden. First, my daughter was denied to check in due to her ticket is invalid. The travel agent has given me an invalid ticket, they have torn the wrong ticket. I was really pissed off and the counter personnel asked me to talk to the MAS ticketing counter. It is a long queue and the service is so damn slow. I have to wait for half an hour to get the ticket. Finally I got my turn to the counter and the personnel told me she cannot do anything unless I buy a new ticket. This is really ridiculous and I have to ask Bousted Travel for refund. I have to pay extra RM520 ringgit for the new ticket. She is 14 months old and at least I have to pay 10% out of total ticket price. If my wife or my other kid have the same problem, I have to pay extra RM4000++ ticket, I would really spoiled my mood that day. I’ll scold the travel agent and get my refund.

When I board MAS airline, the personnel incharge of taking my daughter stroller didn’t give me any tag for indication. He just drove the stroller to the luggage area without giving any tag. When I arrived savely in Arlanda airport Stockholm, I ask for the stroller but nobody know where the stroller is. It really spoiled my mood but luckily, I managed to get a nice taxi driver to send me to the apartment agent to get my key and send me to the apartment.

The apartment is nice with all ikea products. At least the apt made my day.

My apartment is near Solna, a walking distance to Solna Centrum and Stadium.

Italy

I have been to Italy twice already this year (2007). Once in January and the other one is in June 2007. I was assigned to work in Milan for a month.

First time I was there, I just wander around Milan. The famous area are Piazza del Duomo and Shopping disctrict Monte Napoleone. The easiest way to get to Milan by air or train. I flew from Amsterdam to Milan Malpensa. I took Royal Dutch KLM from Kuala Lumpur to Amsterdam and from Amsterdam to Milan. There is direct connection from Kuala Lumpur to Milan. The reason why I used Royal Dutch KLM is because I want to get some miles point from Enrich Malaysia Airlines. As I can spend the miles point for other trips to Stockholm this coming september.

This trip, during weekend I went out of Milan to Monaco Monte Carlo and Pisa. It is really nice and enjoyable trip.

Monaco Monte Carlo & Nice France

Last week, I was planning to go to Nice, France but since my friend has not been online for sometime until friday, I have managed to contact him.

At last on that friday, I went to Lambrate FS in Milan to buy the return ticket from here to Nice, France. But my friend insist me to stop in Monaco because he thinks that the place should never be missed. I bought the ticket with 55 Euros which is rather cheap.

Wake up early in the morning but the first metro train from CroCetta to Central FS only opened at 6.00a.m and the train only comes at 6.15a.m. I was so stressed out and I hope I can manage to get on the train on time.

This is my first time to be on the train intercity and inter country by myself. It is not about the safety but it is about the language, if something wrong, I cannot speak italian or french.

Milan

Today is my last day in Milan, Italy. One week in Milan is enough for me. I have seen many duomo “church” especially at piazza duomo.  One halal kebab near to Centrale F.S – firmata stazio.

I stay at Romana Residense which cost me about 165 Euro per night. Live is quite boring here in Milan and everthing here is related to fashion. Even young kids wear D & G – Dolce & Gabana. I’ll put more pictures about Milan here.

Memang mengarut doakan cuti sebegini tetapi kadang-kadang ianya perlu kerana stress. hehe

Kisah Daylight saving time

So terpinga-pinga la wife aku ni kenapa sebab tak pernah rasa daylight saving time ni. So memang la, pertukaran 1 jam ni akan berlaku di musim panas (summer) la di Australia disebabkan waktu siang akan lebih panjang dari biasa. Walaupun time zone di australia adalah GMT+10. so sekarang jadi GMT+11. Tapi cara nak tukar dalam hand phone adalah timezone GMT+10 dan cari daylight saving time dan turn on kan, so handphone secara otomatik akan menambah 1 jam lagi kepada masa anda.

Colleque aku dari adelaide sms aku tanya kenapa hotel suruh tambah 1 jam lagi, rupa-rupanya dia tak tahu pun pasal day light saving ni. so aku mula lah beritahu yang ianya akan berlaku pada hari ahad terakhir bulan oktober.. so oleh kerana 29-10096 adalah hari ahad terakhir, maka pertukaran daylight saving dibuat.

Lucu kan.. Itulah namanya.. jauh berjalan luas pandangan..

Perkara macam ni tak berlaku di malaysia sebab memang masa 12 jam siang dan 12 jam malam. Malaysia kan duduk dekat dengan garisan equator.
